The CHL Scouting Bureau has updated its top-ten skaters after 12 games in the CJHL season. The official mid-term rankings will be released after 20 games.
1 (1) - Rashad Flett, RW, Brandon Wheat Kings
6'3", 202 pound winger maintains his top spot with a solid start to his season
2 (2) - Oscar White, D, Calgary Hitmen
Big, mean and effective at both ends of the ice, White has scouts salivating throughout the CHL
3 (5) - Jan Leeman, C, Medicine Hat Tigers
Another big forward, Leeman provides size and deft offensive touch to the table
4 (3) - Deshawn Tallon, D, Medicine Hat Tigers
Struggling offensively early in the season, but still playing excellent shutdown defense
5 (4) - Rylan Alexeev, LW, Medicine Hat Tigers
6'2" 207 pound power forward has just one goal and 5 points thus far, but is contributing in a big way off the scoresheet
6 (7) - Maddox Vojta, C, Medicine Hat Tigers
Yet another big body, Vojta leads draft eligible players in scoring, but defensively he leaves much to be desired
7 (12) - Clifford Mason, LW, Brandon Wheat Kings
Playing with Flett and Austin Boo, Mason has formed one of the CJHL's most dominant lines. He leads the CJHL with 11 assists.
8 (8) - Logan Laprade, D, Regina Pats
A gifted all-around player, Laprade does everything the scouts love except hit.
9 (NR) - Karl Rodman, D, Vancouver Giants
A mid-season pick-up for the Giants, Rodman has size and skill on the back-end and has surprised many. He could continue flying up the draft boards yet.
10 (11) - Darian Tenkrat, C, Calgary Hitmen
Offensive skill has emerged to compliment two-way play, but Tenkrat may need to add strength
Risers
Karl Rodman, D, Vancouver Giants
Unranked in pre-season and not even on the CJHL radar, Rodman has made quite an impression in his 7 CJHL games since Vancouver brought him in. He's got 3 goals, 38 ChG and 53 ChA and has looked very good.
Jaden Tarnasky, LW, Regina Pats
Scouts didn't think much of Tarnasky in pre-season, but more playing time and great off-puck play have boosted his stock to the brink of the top 10.
Clifford Mason, LW, Brandon Wheat Kings
Mason struggled to put together his offensive game when the preliminary rankings came along (5 points in 10 pre-season games), which coupled with a non-existant defensive game hurt his stock. But now, Mason is among the top playmakers in juniors and is a big factor in the success of the Wheat Kings' top unit.
Fallers
Solomon Ouimet, LW, Medicine Hat Tigers
Ouimet excited scouts with dominant offensive play in pre-season, but now he's producing at a 0.5 PPG clip. He's small and one-dimensional, and right now that dimension isn't working.
Joe Dugal, D, Medicine Hat Tigers
Ranked in the pre-season top-10, Dugal has struggled to do much of anything since the junior season kicked off. He has one goal and 18 ChG in 7 games while having missed five of them with injury.
Jayden Cirone, D, Regina Pats
A decent sized, steady defenseman who hasn't necessarily had significant strengths or weaknesses, Cirone's defensive game may have fallen off a bit in the early part of the season. His fall certainly hasn't been as pronounced as those of Ouimet or Dugal, but he has dropped from the top-10 into the early 3rd round.
